Reciprocal Lending Agreement with Lincoln County Public Library

Effective - July 1, 2015

Adopted by the Board of Trustees: June 19, 2012, Extended by the Board of Trustees: June 16, 2015

The Gaston County Public Library agrees to waive the annual out-of-county borrower fee for residents of Lincoln County beginning July 1, 2012 as proposed by local officials and endorsed by the Gaston-Lincoln Regional Library Board of Trustees in the Gaston-Lincoln Regional Library Dissolution Plan (adopted December 8, 2011). Accordingly, Gaston County residents who wish to obtain a Lincoln County Public Library card will not be required to pay Lincoln's out-of-county annual fee.

Reciprocal privilege supersedes the free exchange and transit of library materials between the two counties. Joint technical and administrative operations permitted Gaston-Lincoln Regional Library cardholders to borrow from, and return library materials to, library locations in both counties. The Gaston County Public Library and the Lincoln County Public Library, however, will be separate entities, each with its own library automation system, after July 1, 2012.

Please Note: A Gaston County Public Library card is valid at all Gaston County branches. Cardholders may borrow from, and return library materials to, Gaston location(s) of choice.

This Reciprocal Lending Agreement will remain in effect for the initial three-year period, July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015, and may be extended, if mutually agreed upon, thereafter. This agreement, by mutual agreement, will be extended indefinitely. Should either county ever decide to withdraw from the agreement, a 90-day notice must be sent in writing to county management and the Library Director of the other county, which would nullify this agreement.
