Policy for Proctoring of Exams

Effective date: November 1, 2018

Adopted by the Board of Trustees: October 16, 2018

Purpose

In support of its mission to promote lifelong learning, the Gaston County Public Library will proctor exams for students upon request and based on the availability of personnel, facilities and technology.

Eligibility

Proctoring is open to Library cardholders. Individuals who live, work, attend school, or own property in Gaston County may obtain a library card at no charge. Out-of-county users can obtain a library card for a fee of $10 per year.

Registration Process

Students must follow established Gaston County Public Library registration procedures and guidelines.

Availability

Exams are administered by appointment only and must be arranged in advance. Students must call or email the Proctoring Coordinator to facilitate the scheduling of exams. Walk-ins are not accepted as the Library cannot guarantee the availability of staff for proctoring. The library agrees to provide a reasonably quiet space for students to undertake the exam but students should be mindful that the Library is a public building. Due to staff and space constraints proctoring is not available at all GCPL locations.

Fees & Costs

There is no fee for this service; however, the Library will not incur any costs for administering or returning exams. Students must provide either an addressed/stamped envelope for mailed exams or pay current library fees for photocopy and/or fax service. Exams can be scanned and emailed at no charge.

To register for proctoring please complete the registration form (PDF) and return it to a library staff member or email it to Library Help.
