Gaston County Public Library

Temporary Virtual Library Card

Temporary Virtual Library Card

If you receive an error message while applying please call 704-868-2164, ext. 5537 or email us!

To be eligible for a card, you must live, work, attend school, or own property in Gaston County.

If you have an existing library card account or if you are Gaston County School or Gaston Day School student with a WOW card, you do not need to apply for this temporary card. If you need help with that card please contact us via email.

Younger citizens without access to a WOW card can have a parent apply.

To apply for this card please visit and complete the online application. This application will generate a non-functioning placeholder starting with PACREG. Once that application is received, a library staff member will assign a functioning barcode and contact you with that number. Please be patient with us.

Please include your email address (if possible) in the application when asked.

This fully functioning card will be valid for 90 days. It will grant access to all of our digital services as well as curbside service. For a complete listing of these services please visit and for how-to videos on some of the key resources please visit our Digital Portal at .

If you are having trouble with the application please call the Main Library at 704-868-2164, extension 5537, or email the library and someone will assist you.

Again, these cards will be valid for 90 days. If our closure lasts beyond 90 days, we will be able to extend that time. However, when we do open back up for business, we hope you will visit any of our ten locations and ask a staff member to convert your virtual library card into a physical library card!
