Readers Theater - Bob's Your Elf
Thursday, December 7, 7:00 pm; Saturday, December 9, 2:00 pm, Main Library Auditorium
Gaston County resident Eleanor Wixson recently approached the Friends of the Gaston County Public Library (FGCPL) with an interesting proposal. She wanted to have a readers theater, and she wanted to do it so anyone in the community could experience it for free.
A readers theater is a dramatic presentation of a written work in a script form. Readers read from a script and character parts are divided among the readers. No memorization, costumes, stage blocking, or special lighting is needed. Scripts are generally held by the readers or read from podiums, stands or a table.
Bob’s Your Elf is a family-friendly, comedic play about an elf named Bob who gets banished from the North Pole to learn a lesson about cooperation. Because of his bad attitude, Santa sends him to a small town to help out with their Christmas pageant, but Bob is in for a surprise when he is faced with a group of bumbling actors who are doing their best, but cannot seem to quite get it correct.
Come experience “readers theater” and get in the holiday spirit with family, friends and laughter for either evening performance. A light reception of holiday treats and beverages will be served during intermission.
